Naturno and its surroundings extend from the picturesque village of Plaus to the enchanting districts of Tabland, Tschirland and Staben. With a population of 6,000, Naturno/Naturns is one of the largest municipalities in the valley and is located just 13 kilometres west of the spa town of Merano/Meran. Situated at an altitude of 554 metres, Naturno is surrounded by picturesque natural scenery.
The hiking trails in Naturno extend on both sides of the valley and reveal a unique variety. The Sonnenberg in the north impresses with its sun-drenched flank, which harbours a barren dry grassland landscape - a special feature in the entire Alpine region. Here, traditional mountain farms characterise the landscape alongside extensive orchards and a panoramic view of the majestic, snow-capped peaks that rise almost 3,000 metres into the sky.
